This year the Tskaltubo Art Festival celebrated its 5th edition. After four years of joint efforts by artasfoundation and the IDP Women’s Association of Tskaltubo the festival is now fully run by the local organisers. Like in the past years, this year’s festival assembled artists from the region as well as international guests and build on existing on-site activities in the field of dance, music and visual arts. The results of the eight collaborative workshops with artists from Georgia, Switzerland and Germany were shared with the public in a two-day festival program that took place on 29th and 30th September 2017.
Among the invited artists were the Swiss musicians Albin Brun and Patricia Draeger, who created a vivid space of exchange between contemporary Swiss folk music and Georgian folk music traditions. They conducted two workshops, one with the folk music ensemble of the local music school and one with the Georgian Naduri choir.
With this fifth edition, the IDP Women’s Association of Tskaltubo and their director Lali Grigolava took over the lead and responsibility for the future development of the festival. The team of artasfoundation, with their project manager Maja Leo, offers consultations and support regarding fundraising and suggestions for the participation of international artists. Further, the Tbilisi-based curator Irine Jorjadze will continue to advise the team in Tskaltubo on all artistic behalves.
