In January 2019 artasfoundation invited to an evening at the Literaturhaus Zürich which was held in two program parts.

The focus in the first part was on the Azerbaijani author Akram Aylisli and his book ‘Stone Dreams’. In his novel, Aysili contradicts the prevailing version in his country of the conflict with Armenia and tries to build bridges between the hostile nations. Despite the international attention, the book was prohibited in Azerbaijan and Akram Aylisli is persecuted, his books were burnt on public places, his theater plays were banned and he is not allowed to leave the country.

After an introduction on the situation by Sylvia Sasse, Thomas Sarbacher would read passages from the book ‘Stone Dreams’. The author was joining live for a conversation by skype connection.

 

At the second part of the evening, the audience was invited to learn more about the current art projects of the foundation. In conversations on tables with project managers and involved artist they discussed positions tougether.
